About Me

In terms of my background, I am trained to assess, diagnose, and treat children, youth, parents, and families seeking support regarding learning and development, and mental health and well-being. I earned my M.A. in Clinical Developmental Psychology and completed much of the coursework toward my PhD in the same program, but withdrew myself prior to the birth of my second child to focus on family. I have a passion for knowledge though, and have since returned and am in the 3rd year of my doctorate in Child Study and Education specializing in Mental Health and Well-Being.

My areas of expertise include helping children, youth, parents, and families whose concerns relate to anxiety, stress, self-esteem, depression, social interactions, emotional and behavioural regulation, parenting, and parent-child relationships. I have a particular interest in perinatal mental health and am grateful to be able to offer support to parents experiencing postpartum anxiety and depression. I am also passionate about working with parents of young children (birth to age 6) and children and youth with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and their families. The services I provide are evidence-based, and at the same time are flexible, integrative, and client-centred, which allows me to use different approaches based on your needs. I have been trained in mindfulness, emotion-focused, narrative, brief, solution-focused, and cognitive-behavioural therapies. I also have extensive training and experience in infant mental health and attachment and regularly find myself 'geeking out' over recent research in the area of relational neuroscience (that's just a fancy way of referring to the ways our brains grow, develop, and change in response to our relationships with others).

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work in community mental health agencies, school districts, private practices, and also at some of Canada's top pediatric hospitals (SickKids and McMaster Children's). These roles have often been in the context of multi-disciplinary teams where I was fortunate to work with a variety of professionals (social workers, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, pediatricians, learning support teachers, educational assistants, etc.). I have experience working with children and youth (age 6-21), as well as experience focused on early development (birth to 6 years). In addition to assessment, counselling, and parent support services, I have offered workshops for parents/caregivers and educators on a variety of topics including attachment, emotion regulation, executive functioning, ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, and Depression. I have also supervised graduate level psychology students and psychometrists.

I am originally from Ontario (Greater Toronto-Hamilton area), and moved to Kelowna in 2020 where I live with my husband and four young children. In my spare time, I enjoy family movie nights, hiking, drinking chai tea lattes, and spending time with my friends and family. You may also find me learning to stand-up paddle board and cross country ski...wish me luck!
Erin Mullings, M.A.
Registered Psychologist (CPBC#2577)
Pronouns: she, her, hers
I am a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (CPBC) who has been working with children, youth, and families for 20 years. My education and professional training focused on child development and the various factors that influence that development, as well as relationships (parent-child, peer, family), and the ways in which these areas intertwine and contribute to our mental health and well-being. I am fortunate to have had many opportunities and experiences over the years that laid the foundation for my work as a psychologist, and being a mom of four has without a doubt enhanced that foundation and deepened my understanding of child development, as well as family and school functioning. Our home is full of neurodiversity, so everything I do is done through a lens of curiosity, collaboration, compassion, and connection. As I hope you'll see when we work together, I use this same lens in my work as a psychologist.
